What Does Non-TANF Mean?Navigation: Home > Legal Questions >What Does non TANF mean? |
|
TANF stands for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, which is the federal program that provides cash assistance for families in need. The new federal program was created by the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996, which delivers federal welfare funds to states in a single new block grant.
If it is non-TANF, then that means that you do not qualify for the temporary cash assistance because you belong to a working family whose countable income is at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. If you are a TANF family, you may be eligible for certain federal or state child care programs. |
